Fall is here - How to prepare your house accordingly.

It’s Fall.

We know, that’s depressing.

But as we enter the month’s of Fall, we’d like to give you a few tips to prepare your home accordingly. These tips are simple to do, and will prove to be very helpful in protecting and preparing your home for winter.

Filters: We say this very often, but it’s crucial for you to change your furnace filters coming into the fall/winters months. It’s crucial because a dirty filter can be a fire hazard and will block the heat from escaping throughout the home. If you want consistent airflow and heat throughout the winter, this is a great place to start!

Carbon monoxide detector: This is easy to do, affordable, and absolutely crucial for the safety of your home. Carbon monoxide can be deadly, and is not always noticeable in the air. As you run your furnace to warm your home this winter, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Go purchase your carbon monoxide detector today; you can get one at any local hardware or convenience store.

Smell your furnace: Your sense of smell can protect your home more that you think? Did I leave the burner on? Is something on fire? Is the sewer backing up? Maybe you can relate with some of these things. So, this fall take a few minutes to walk into your furnace closet and take a good whiff. If you notice any smells that don’t seem correct, connect with one of our professionals immediately.

Vacuum your furnace closet: Seriously, just vacuum your furnace closet out. You may notice lint and dust can collect in there. Well, if you let it be, it becomes a major fire hazard in the winter; since your furnace is not running. Take five minutes and vacuum out your furnace closet. You won’t regret it.
